Red Hat Society

Queen Sunshine Deborah (Sunny) Schmitt is the founder of the Pikes Peak Red Hatters. We currently have 48 registered members, and of that number, approximately 20 members are under 50 and wear pink hats.

So far, the Red Hatters have had the following events:

  • Organizing Tea Party at PPCC on 12 March 2004
  • Sunday Brunch at the Antler's Grille on 25 April 2004
  • Happy Hour Get Together at the Sheraton Hotel on 25 June 2004
  • Breast Cancer Charity Bingo at Centennial Campus on 29 July 2004
  • Coming up: Komen Race for the Cure on 8 August 2004

"The Red Hat Society began as a result of a few women deciding to greet middle age with verve, humor and elan. We believe silliness is the comedy relief of life, and since we are all in it together, we might as well join red-gloved hands and go for the gusto together. Underneath the frivolity, we share a bond of affection, forged by common life experiences and a genuine enthusiasm for wherever life takes us next."
Sue Ellen Cooper, Queen Mother
