President's Welcome

President Tony Kinkel

Dear Students:

Welcome to Pikes Peak Community College! I am delighted that you have chosen to continue your education at PPCC, and I believe that you will find you have made an excellent choice. Your success is our top priority, and we make a solid commitment to provide you with the highest quality education and best customer service experience available.

Whether you plan to transfer to a university to earn a higher degree or pursue career technical training to achieve a rewarding career, PPCC is a great place to get a top-notch education. Because we believe that people are our most important asset, we put a strong emphasis on hiring and nurturing the best and brightest faculty. At PPCC, 100 percent of our Arts and Sciences courses are taught by qualified faculty with a Master’s Degree or Doctorate, and our career and technical courses are taught by fully credentialed faculty with extensive field experience “in the trenches” in their industry.

The results are apparent in the classroom, where they will spark your fascination, challenge you to stretch your limits and discover more, and ignite your passion and enthusiasm for learning. Plus, our small classes give you the personalized attention you need to truly excel, and provide greater learning opportunities through direct interaction with your instructor and fellow classmates. This all translates into a better quality education for you, and great preparation for your future achievements.

The proof of our academic excellence can be seen in the success of our graduates. Business and industry leaders support our career and technical programs through curriculum development, equipment donations, mentoring and student internships, and they compete to hire our graduates. At the university level, our graduates are actively sought after for transfer, because the records show that our students do as well or better than students who begin their education at a four-year school. In fact, more than 30 percent of the students at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs are PPCC transfers.

We are very proud that a 2008 survey (by Survey Monkey) showed that 95.5 percent of our students are "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with their experience and education at Pikes Peak Community College.

You are our number one priority, and your academic success is a shared goal of the entire faculty and staff. Our aim is for you to achieve the lifelong goals that you have set for yourselves. Best wishes for a successful year.

Sincerely,

Anthony G. "Tony" Kinkel, Ed.D.
