First time in college? You should know this:

One class is usually about 3 credit hours.
12 credit hours is considered full-time.

Study commitment for full-time

Every credit hour represents one hour of class time per week.
For every hour in class, you should spend 3 hours studying.

12 hours X 3 = 36 hours per week of studying or with class-time 48 hours per week!

Math and English Placement

A certain level of Math and English is required to be able to take most courses at PPCC. When one class is required before you can take another, that course is called a pre-requisite or "pre-req". Therefore Math and English are pre-req's for most courses. In order to tell which level you are at you need to have some sort of ACT or Accuplacer scores. You can study for the Accuplacer beforehand- a higher score could mean less coursework. Also visit Khan Academy for tutorials on certain problems or our vast library resources

Once you have Math and English scores you can meet with an advisor to see which courses you should take first.
