Felix Lopez Joins PPCC as VP of New Student Success Division
Lance Bolton, Ph.D., March 15, 2012
PPCC is excited to announce the creation of a new division specifically dedicated to Student Success. Our college is moving boldly to embrace and institutionalize our work to foster greater student success. Our commitment to this new division is aligned with our mission, our strategic plan and with anticipated funding models that emphasize student success over FTE numbers.
Felix Lopez, president of Trinidad State Junior College, will leave his current post and join PPCC as the leader of our new Student Success Division. We are honored and delighted to have President Lopez joining the PPCC team.
For those of you who do not know Felix's background, he began his higher education career at TSJC as a non-English speaking student and worked his way through the ranks to become the chief financial officer and, eventually, the president of the college. That is a student success story!
In his new role as Vice President for Student Success, President Lopez will oversee our college's dedicated efforts to improve student goal achievement, retention, graduation and transfer measures, minority student success and other areas of student intervention and support. Specifically he will lead our Retention Office, Learning Assistance Centers, OASIS, Trio, support of the new student early alert system (Course Signals) and Institutional Research.
At TSJC, President Lopez enjoyed tremendous success improving minority success rates, developmental course success and overall graduation rates. PPCC is very fortunate to have a person of President Lopez's skill, experience and ability joining our team. He will officially join us on June 18, 2012.
Please welcome Felix Lopez to our wonderful PPCC Team.
