Program Description
You can complete a two-year Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Business Administration, or one-year certificate programs in Business Administration, Customer Service, Entrepreneurship (Small Business), International Business, Management, Marketing, and Supervision. The degree programs offer more extensive, broad-based skills, and will generally lead to jobs with more responsibilities and higher wages. You may start with the certificate, then continue on to complete the Associate of Applied Science degree. The skills and backgrounds acquired in Business Administration are also relevant in many jobs besides those directly business-related -- for that reason, some people will choose to get a Business Administration degree to advance in their non-business career.
The Customer Service option prepares you for positions that require customer-contact roles. If you choose Entrepreneurship, you might be interested in starting your own business, or have an existing business to further develop. The Executive Assistant emphasis leads to entry-level office-professional positions. The International Business emphasis provides training in operating business in an international environment. If you choose the Management emphasis you will be prepared to work as a department or area manager within a corporation. The Marketing emphasis provides entry to careers in advertising, marketing, purchasing, retailing and sales. The Supervision emphasis provides preparation for supervisory positions in corporate environments.

Career Path Notes
PPCC offers both a transfer degree (Associate of Arts) in Business and a career degree (Associate of Applied Science) in Business Administration, as well as numerous short-term certificates. Talk to your academic advisor to map out your career goals, and choose the best path to take.
Advancement in business careers is often related to your level of experience and education. While executive-level positions can be reached after extensive successful experience, a Bachelor’s degree or Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is often needed. If you are interested in those higher-level career areas, you should enroll in the Associate of Arts Business Transfer degree at PPCC, then continue on at a four-year school to complete your Bachelor’s degree.
