Secure Your Future
In a post-9/11 world, it’s more important than ever before to have trained professionals in homeland security and emergency management. Answer your call to duty and serve your country by becoming an expert in preparedness, disaster relief, security and safety, and domestic and international terrorism. You’ll also learn about world history and foreign cultures so you can be part of creating a more peaceful world.
If you have a passion for saving lives and protecting our country, you could make a difference by safeguarding the public welfare in manmade and natural disaster situations. You will use your knowledge and training to make decisions; problem-solve; and plan, implement, and coordinate resources necessary for disaster response and recovery. This interdisciplinary area combines aspects of emergency operations, terrorism defense, and infrastructure protection, along with understandings of legal, psychological, and cultural issues.
Emergency Management needs people with good problem solving skills, good judgment, the knack for making quick decisions under pressure, the ability to get along well with others and work as part of a team, and the steadfastness to stay calm during emergencies.
