Multimedia Graphic Design imageDesign Your Ideal Career

Do you actually like watching commercials or reading newspaper ads? Some of the best in the history of advertising are thanks to talented graphic designers. If you have a knack for creating artwork that cuts through the clutter, Multimedia Graphic Design might be your ideal career. You’ll learn the tools you need to work in new technology and traditional media, and you’ll be prepared to jump right in to this exciting, always evolving career field.

Graphic Artists and Designers use their creativity and artistic skills to plan and create commercial artwork for corporations, retail stores, advertising companies, publishing firms, the entertainment industry, and much more. You may work for yourself, as a consultant, in design companies with many other artists and craftspeople, or in advertising agencies. Your work may encompass the whole design process from concept creation to preparing camera-ready material for the printer, or work may focus on one part of the total process.

Your knowledge of color, design, computer software, typography and drawing can be harnessed to plan and create distinctive and original commercial artwork in many different industries.

As a Graphic Designer, you could create packaging and promotional displays for new products, the visual design for an annual report, graphs and charts for business presentations, brochures, letterhead, and business logos. You might even do layout and design for magazines, newspapers, and other publications. Your skills as an Illustrator may find you creating pictures for books, magazines, stationary, and stock image agencies. Medical and Scientific Illustrators create pictures of the human body and its parts, animals, plants, and patient care techniques for medical and scientific textbooks, slide presentations, and exhibits, while Fashion Artists illustrate clothing designs for newspapers, magazines, and store catalogs.
