Program Description
The Natural Resource Technology Program is designed to prepare you for employment at the technician level in resource management, conservation and environmental sciences. The curriculum includes science foundations, resource management techniques, group projects, and an internship. |
Career Path Notes
More advanced natural resources careers such as Forester, Wildlife Biologist, or Range Manager generally require at least a Bachelor’s degree. If you are interested in pursuing one of these careers, you should enroll in an Associate of Science degree at Pikes Peak Community College, then continue on for a Bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university. |

The field of resource management continues to grow in direct proportion with the increases in population and development. Employment opportunities in resource management are available at municipal, county, state and federal and private levels. Salaries and job security are good and the need for outstanding, well-educated, qualified applicants continues to grow. The future success of environmental policies and practices will depend on the abilities, creativity, and knowledge of individuals employed in the field of resource management. Job Opportunities include Park Ranger, Conservation Officer, Forestry Technician, Range Technician, Recreation Coordinator, Fish & Wildlife Technician, Surveyor, and Resource Technician. |

In Colorado, the median hourly salary in 2005 for Forest & Conservation Technicians was $13.11, with a salary range of $10.28 – $21.11. From 2004 to 2014, there are expected to be an average of 20 job openings per year statewide.
