A résumé is your advertisement to an employer. Like a job application, its purpose is to get you to the next stage of the game – the interview. The Career Planning & Advising Center staff will work with you to make sure that your résumé showcases you at your best; we can also let you know some of the style aspects that seem most effective for our local labor market. You can bring in a draft, and we’ll help you polish it up! If you’ve never written a résumé before, download a copy of our résumé-writing guide to get started. There is no charge for the résumé-review service. (Please note that we do not provide in-depth review services for in-class résumé assignments!)
If you’re not the world’s best word-processor, we also offer current and former students our résumé production service. After you’ve worked with us to polish your résumé, we will produce your résumé on your choice of paper, and provide you with 10 copies of the résumé, 10 copies of letterhead, and a copy of the résumé file on CD. The charge for this service is $20.

Looking for work has always been a challenging process, but the impact of technology on your job search can make it even trickier. Where should you look for jobs? What is networking, and the “hidden job market” people keep mentioning? Is it difficult to go online for opportunities? And if you do try the Internet, how do you narrow down where to look? How do you protect your personal information? The Career Planning & Advising Center can help you organize your search and point you toward sources that will expand your job-seeking options.
