Additional Tutoring Assistance

Scheduled Group Sessions Not Enough?  Need More?

Additionals tutoring sessions are available for request for currently enrolled PPCC students.

Students in need of additional tutoring must submit an Application for Tutoring Assistance

Tutoring is dependent upon available resources; instructor referrals do not guarantee tutoring assistance.

In addition, students seeking tutoring services must:

  • Follow the course sequence outlined by their academic advisor (tutoring does not take the place of prerequisites).
  • Be enrolled in the class for which tutoring is requested.
  • Attend class, participate, and make reasonable academic progress.
  • Utilize college resources (i.e. Math Labs, Writing Centers, Science Learning Centers, Group Tutoring Sessions (Tutoring and Workshop Schedules), etc).

Additional tutoring assistance is limited to two subjects per semester.
Additional tutoring assistance is limited to two completed semesters for the same course.

Our expectations of you

  • Be prepared for the tutoring session.
  • Arrive on time.
  • Contact tutor or LAC at least 24 hours in advance if there is a need to re-schedule. If a session needs to be cancelled in less than 24 hours, student agrees to contact the tutor or LAC immediately once the need to cancel is known.
  • Discuss any concerns regarding tutoring session first with tutor and then, if necessary, with the LAC Coordinator.
  • Two “no shows” without advance notification will result in losing the privilege to receive tutoring.
  • Three or more cancellations (excused or unexcused) may result in a re-evaluation of tutoring privileges by LAC Coordinator and can result in termination of tutoring.

What you can expect from your tutor

  • Maintain the Learning Assistance Centers Confidentiality Policy.
  • Maintain and report logs to LAC of attendance and student progress.
  • Tutor may discuss certain information about the tutoring session with The SSS Coordinator, The LAC Coordinator, OASIS representative, Multicultural Retention Specialist, and/or other PPCC faculty/staff for the purpose of improving their tutoring skills or to recommend other support that may assist the student in attaining their academic goals.
