Our Mission
While supporting the mission and vision of Pikes Peak Community College, we pledge to offer students in the Art Department a thorough experience of the theory and practice of the visual arts, especially as related to Western culture, through practice, research, and analysis of their own work and that of others.
Imagine Life Without Art
An artist is a person who makes life more interesting or beautiful, more understandable or mysterious, or probably, in the best sense, more wonderful - George Bellows
ART is the universal language.
The human being is a creative animal and has an innate need to create. The fountainhead of creativity lies in the imagination, which manifests itself in the projection of images. Art, then, is the language in images by which man communicates ideas and concepts of the self, others, and the universe. This program is designed to allow you to discover and develop yourself and your creativity in such media as drawing, design, painting, watercolor, photography and ceramics.
Personal expression in the visual arts takes as many forms as there are artists. As an art student, you will become aware of the variety of expressions, especially present in contemporary art, and be able to analyze them based on impact and in relationship to a solid foundation of ideas and concepts. You will also create a professional, comprehensive portfolio.

The Associate of Arts Degree
"60+60" Transfer Guarantee
Spend two years at PPCC, earning your Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree, and we’ll send you off with half the credits you’ll need for a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Guaranteed.
If you sign up for the 60+60 Bachelor’s Degree Transfer Program, we guarantee that the credits you’ve earned at PPCC will automatically be accepted by any four-year, public institution of higher learning in the state – providing, of course, you follow a few simple rules. For instance, you have to maintain at least a “C” in each of your 60+60 courses. And only approved 60+60 courses apply. But other than that, there’s hardly anything difficult about it.
If you think you might want to move on to a state college or university after completing your two years at PPCC, ask one of our advisors about the 60+60 program. Find out more at www.ppcc.edu/60plus60.
