Debbie Sagen Joins PPCC as Director of Extended Learning

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Aug. 2, 2012 – Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC) President Lance Bolton, Ph.D., is proud to announce and welcome Debbie Sagen as the college’s new Director of Extended Learning. In her role, Sagen will work toward expanding PPCC’s programs to better educate the region’s workforce, and develop new personal and professional learning opportunities to non-degree seeking students.
Specifically, Sagen will work with PPCC faculty and staff to develop new academic and workforce programs that meet both community needs and serve new markets. She will also guide the evaluation of current PPCC programing to strengthen content, improve employer satisfaction and increase community connections.
Sagen has 28 years of experience in public, private and non-profit sector management and consulting. For the past six years, she has managed the UCCS Trauma, Health & Hazards Center, assisting with the development of new research projects and managing government relations and contracting for the Center’s spin-off company, BlueSun, Inc.
Previous to her work at UCCS, Sagen served as a legislative liaison to state and federal agencies. Additionally she worked extensively on economicdevelopment efforts in Oregon and Colorado; these efforts assisted relocating and expanding businesses meet infrastructure, workforce and community development needs.
Sagen holds master’s degree in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
