James Kynor Joins PPCC As Associate Dean

kynor_james.jpgColorado Springs, Colo. – Sept. 18, 2012 – Pikes Peak Community College President Lance Bolton, Ph.D., is proud to announce and welcome James Kynor, as the college’s Associate Dean for Manufacturing, Industry and Technical Studies. In this new position, Kynor will oversee workforce development, education and training programs for those pursuing a career in the trades, technical and manufacturing sectors.  He will also work closely with local employers to ensure that the college adequately prepares its students to meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century workforce. 

Kynor has a unique combination of private industry, higher education and workforce development expertise.  He has more than 10 years of manufacturing sector experience. He held a variety of highly responsible positions including Market Development Manager, International Business Development Manager and Director of Quality and Planning for Gundle Environmental Systems, a Houston-based publicly traded manufacturer of geosynthetic lining products.

As Director of the Center of Business and Technology Training for Montgomery College, in Conroe, Texas, Kynor successfully repositioned the Center as a preferred regional workforce development and training provider for numerous programs, including, manufacturing, healthcare and biotechnology.  In this role, he managed staff, budget and resources for a satellite campus of one of the largest and fastest growing community college systems in Texas.

He returned to his hometown of Colorado Springs in 2005, and began employment with the Pikes Peak Workforce Center, as Business Relations Group Manager, before being promoted to Operations Manager/Vice President.   In these capacities, Kynor provided leadership on numerous community growth initiatives, collaborative efforts, and task forces relating to education, economic growth and workforce development at the local, regional and state levels.

Kynor graduated from UCCS, and holds a master’s degree in Business from Boston University.   He is also a graduate of numerous executive education and professional development programs.  While working and living in Europe, he was able to utilize his Russian, Czech and German language skills acquired during his studies at the Defense Language Institute and the Middlebury College Russian Language immersion program.  A military veteran, James has two children, Stephen, age 20 and Jenifer, age 17.  He and his wife, Maribeth, enjoy the quality of life, recreation and sporting opportunities which the Pikes Peak Region has to offer.
