PPCC Hires New Director of eLearning

Colorado Springs, Colo. – September 18, 2013 – Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC) hires Wendy MacColl as the director of the Office of eLearning. In her new role MacColl will oversee eLearning staff as they assist faculty with online and hybrid course design, support other colleges and departments with online program development, examine the effect of technology on teaching and learning and share information across the institution about effective practices.
As the demand grows for online courses and programs, PPCC’s eLearning strives to provide time and distance bound students with a flexible education without sacrificing quality.
Most recently MacColl served as the director of Distance Learning at John Brown University. Prior to that she was director of Instructional Design in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at University of Arkansas, faculty in the Mass Communications Department and Center for New Media at Colorado State University-Pueblo and Instructional Designer at Alliente, an e-procurement software company.
Early in her career, she was a radio and television news anchor and reporter in both Colorado and Wisconsin and went on to teach Broadcasting at Pikes Peak Community College. After seven years as PPCC faculty, she accepted a position as assistant director of Learning Technologies and Instructional Technologist.
MacColl earned an associate of applied science in Radio and Television Broadcasting from PPCC, a bachelor of science in Trade and Industrial Education from CSU and a master's in Administration, Supervision and Curriculum Development with an emphasis in Instructional Design and Technology from the University of Colorado, Denver.
Pikes Peak Community College, in its 45th year of operation, is a two-year college offering associate’s degrees and various certifications in career and technical fields. With four campuses, two military education centers in El Paso County and nearly 200 programs of study, PPCC serves approximately 22,000 students annually.
