What do you do at PPCC?
I teach Intro to Music Theory, Jazz Combo and Percussion Methods classes.
Why did you choose PPCC?
Several years ago, I met William Malone and he said whenever PPCC had enough percussion students to justify hiring me, he would, and five years ago, he did just that. I had previously been teaching at CMSD Charter Academy.
What is a little-known fact about you?
If you ever rode go-carts at the go-cart track that used to be located at Platte & Chelton, I was a manager there in my younger days.
What is your favorite food?
Enchilada casserole, hands-down.
What do you enjoying doing?
Playing Ping-Pong (aka table tennis), croquet, swimming, and hanging out with my family, which includes two young daughters.
What is your favorite quote?
“Go out with your boots on.” I heard that in the movie, Second-Hand Lions. I’m not sure where the original quote came from.
What is the last book you read (or are reading)?
State of Fear by Michael Crichton. It’s about media controlling the world.
Do you have pets?
No
If you could meet any famous person, living or deceased, who would it be?
Probably President Obama, just for the claim to fame that I met the president of the U.S.
What is your favorite PPCC story?
Our jazz combo was playing in the courtyard on a 90 degree summer day and it was just miserable outside. It was so hot that I couldn’t even touch my cymbals! The things musicians go through to perform, but the show must go on.
Matt Anderson, Materials handler II, Bookstore
What do you do at PPCC?
I do shipping and receiving at the Rampart Range Campus Bookstore.
Why did you choose PPCC?
While getting my first associate’s degree in HVAC here, I started working on-campus and liked the atmosphere, so I stayed on as a permanent employee. While working full-time, I completed my second associate’s degree in business administration in December 2011.
What is a little-known fact about you?
I know sign language very well because my dad was deaf, as were several family members on my mom’s side, including both grandparents. I use my skills to assist deaf students in the Bookstore.
What is your favorite food?
Pizza – any kind!
What do you enjoying doing?
Outdoor stuff, hiking & sports, especially football & basketball. My family is very important to me and I like to do things with them.
What is your favorite quote?
“If it’s not broken, don’t fix it!” - Anonymous
What is the last book you read (or are reading)?
I’m an avid reader of Sports Illustrated, so that’s the last thing I read.
Do you have pets?
No
If you could meet any famous person, living or deceased, who would it be?
George Washington, since he was the first president of our country. I’m sure it would be interesting to talk to him about what it was like at that time.
What is your favorite PPCC story?
I get a kick out of all the people who complain about the aardvark being our mascot, and they always ask how we picked the aardvark. The story I heard and tell them is that it was chosen simply because it was the first animal in the dictionary. I’m not positive if that’s true, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
