Around Campus
Meet The Bulletin
Allison Swickard & Carol Salyers, January 19, 2012
You spoke and we listened. During the recent strategic planning initiative, we learned the PPCC community is feeling left in the dark and overwhelmed. Many made comments such as, “there are too many emails,” “there’s so much going on, but no one knows” and “I have no idea what’s happening on campus.”
As a way of improving our internal communication and minimizing the volume of email, we are launching The Bulletin, PPCC’s official news blog for faculty and staff.
The goals of this news blog are to both serve as a “one-stop shop” for PPCC-related news and to provide a forum for staff and faculty to share our college’s stories.
Your help is needed!
While The Bulletin is edited and distributed by the Marketing, Communication & Recruitment department, regular contributions are written by PPCC staff and faculty and we invite your comments, feedback and contributions.
Submitting an article or idea
Submitting a story idea or full-blown article is easy: there’s a designated Contribute link right on the front page of The Bulletin. It’s important to note that the deadline to submit an article or idea is two weeks prior to the release of each new edition of The Bulletin.
The good news for contributors–you don’t have to crank out a perfect article to be included in The Bulletin. Just sketch out the details–even send in bullet points!–and the Marketing, Communication & Recruitment team will wordsmith and edit your piece for relevance, content, timeliness, length and grammar.
A blog, seriously?
Some may be asking, “What’s a blog? Why a blog?” The term “blog” is short for “web log.” Blogs are easy to update, keep things fresh and are always changing. Unlike newsletters that are static, we can update The Bulletin in real time and if something really important happens, we are on it. A new edition is produced every other Thursday and we’ll send an email each time to let you know The Bulletin is updated.
