The Off Switch Saves PPCC Money!
LeeAnn Westfall, March 1, 2012
Studies show 30 percent of office workers leave their computers on at night. However, turning off computers and monitors every night can save $75 per year, per computer*. PPCC has 554 "regular" employees - that’s a whopping $41,550 the college could potentially save by just turning off computers each evening.
But it’s not only computers that account for more spending. Copiers and printers can add up, too. Even in “sleep mode,” these devices burn 30 to 40 watts of electricity.
Help PPCC save money by taking the following simple steps:
1.) Turn off the lights when leaving the office.
2.) Turn off computers at the end of the day.
3.) Turn off printers and copiers at the end of the day.
