Vote for Emir in the Hero Dog Awards
Carol Salyers, April 12, 2012
Emir Singh, German shepherd, resident retired military working dog and unofficial mascot for the Military & Veterans Programs office, needs your votes. He’s up for the 2012 American Humane Association’s Hero Dog Award.
You may remember that Emir was featured in a recent PPCC Bulletin as the service dog providing companionship and assistance to PPCC student and veteran Lani Singh.
To recap a little, Emir served four tours of duty in Iraq as a bomb detection dog and even served in a security capacity for former U.S. President George W. Bush in 2008. Emir earned three awards for military service and is credited with saving upwards of 1,000 military and civilian lives in Iraq.
Should Emir win this coveted canine contest, the Animal Planet channel will come to PPCC and “interview him.” Prize money and attendance at a star-studded awards ceremony in Hollywood also comes with the award.
Follow this link to vote for “MWD Emir H323.” You can vote once every 24 hours through June 30. For more info on Emir, you can visit him on Facebook!
