General Education Mobile (GEM)
What is GEM?
General Education Mobile (GEM) is an educational partnership between the CCAF and Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC) that allows CCAF students to complete the 15-hour General Education Course requirement. GEM allows this requirement to be accomplished in a distance learning format. The unique GEM partnership provides education continuity and quicker course completion all with the same institution. How do I apply to PPCC?
It's simple and fast - to apply to PPCC.
Do I need to take a placement test?
If you do not have current ACT/SAT test scores (scores are good for five years) or have not completed college level English and/or Math at another institution, you will need to take a placement test. If you are stationed outside the Peterson Complex, please contact Ms. Peggy Hawke at peggy.hawke@ppcc.edu to arrange for testing. If you are stationed within the Peterson Complex, choose Testing days and times for additional placement test information.
Do I need to provide transcripts?
If you have completed college level English and/or math at another institution, providing transcripts will eliminate the need to take prerequisite courses and will also waive the placement test requirement.
What courses are available in the GEM Program and what is the tuition rate?

Can I view a course syllabus before I register for classes?
You can view and print course information by following the instructions under "Annual Course Listing."
How do I register for classes?
Use your Student ID (S number) and PIN to register for the class of your choice. Accomplish class registration.
How do I track my progress in the GEM Program?
Keeping track of completed classes is easy. PPCC/GEM Program Advising Checklist form. This item is to be printed and maintained in your personal education file.
Once I'm registered, how do I purchase required textbooks, access my class, communicate with my course instructor, receive technical support?

Will Air Force Tuition Assistance (TA) pay for my class(es)?
When enrolling in a course, please be sure to complete your TA form within the GEM plan search plan. Military Tuition Assistance will pay a maximum of $250.00 per semester hour. A printed copy of the completed TA form does not need to be sent to PPCC. However, it is recommended that a copy be printed for your records. To apply for TA use this link.
After I have completed my CCAF degree can it apply towards a 4-year Bachelors degree program?
The CCAF degree can be transferred to selected four year schools under the AU-ABC degree program. Another available option is the PPCC Degrees at Ease Online Campus.
