Falcon Campus a huge success

| The new Falcon Campus is off to a great start! The college held a grand opening celebration to launch the new campus on August 9, and more than 500 people from the community attended to find out about PPCC programs and services. |

| 21st Century Charter School co-locates at DTSC |

| 21st Century Charter School and Pikes Peak Community College have entered into a unique partnership, allowing the charter school to rent and hold classes at the PPCC Downtown Studio Campus. 21st Century Charter School is the first kindergarten-through-high school charter school in the country to have signed such an agreement with a college to begin a middle college program. |

| Juan Williams, one of America’s leading political writers and thinkers, senior correspondent for NPR, political analyst for Fox Television, and prize-winning columnist for the Washington Post, gave three presentations regarding minority issues in education to PPCC and community audiences. His thought-provoking analysis of black leadership in this country and how multicultural students can achieve success is igniting debate around the country. |

| Bob Laird honored as Classified Employee of the Year |
 |
| Bob Laird was selected by his peers to be the Classified Employee of the Year for 2008-09. Laird is a Pipe Trades Mechanic III in the Facilities, Maintenance & Operations department. He was worked in the department for the past 30 years, and probably knows our campus buildings more intimately than anyone else. |

| Nancy Meiklejohn selected CACTE Teacher of the Year |

| Nancy Meiklejohn, CIS faculty, was selected as the Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education (CACTE) Teacher of the Year. She received her award at the CACTE Summer conference in July, and will compete at the regional level for Region V of ACTE. |

| Cindy Buckley new division dean |

| Cindy Buckley, Early Childhood Education faculty, has been appointed as the new dean of the Business, Social and Behavioral Sciences Division. Buckley has been with PPCC since 1991, and has served as Assistant Dean and Interim Division Dean. |
