Cindy Buckley has been appointed as the new dean of the BSBS Division after an internal Search and Screen process which included a public forum. The appointment was effective July 1, 2008. Buckley has been with PPCC for 19 years in community college education, including a stint as Acting Dean.
Buckley holds an AA degree in Early Childhood Education from Moorpark Junior College, a BA degree in Child Development from California State University at Chico, and an M.Ed. from Regis University. Since August of 1991, she has served as a member of the faculty at Pikes Peak Community College and as Department Chair in Early Childhood Education. In addition, she was the Assistant Dean from 1999 to 2002 and again from 2003 to the present. In the interim, she served as the Interim Dean of the division.
Buckley has served on almost every committee at the college during her tenure including, most recently, representing faculty on the Leadership Council. She has regularly attended state and national workshops related to her discipline. She served as President of the Faculty Senate and as an active member of the Strategic Planning Committee. Her interest in and her tireless work with students and student success is well known to all. She has excellent written and oral communications skills, and is familiar with the college budget process and with divisional budgets. She is aware of the many expectations of department chairs and of the division’s faculty as a whole.
Buckley is always approachable and has a wonderful sense of humor. She is a good listener and a practical person who always gets the job done. Dean Buckley will provide the excellent and forward looking leadership that the division has come to expect.
