Jeff Force, Emergency Medical Services Program Coordinator, says that the refresher training the EMS Institute provides to the community paid off in a big way recently. Agilent Technologies in Englewood had a woman collapse at their site, and using the life-saving training provided by PPCC, they were able to resuscitate her before paramedics arrived. Each year, the EMS Institute does refresher training for Agilent Technologies in First Aid, CPR, and use of the AED (Automated External Defibrillator), as well as doing monthly Inservices.
“Based on the training they received from us, they were able to rapidly determine that she was in cardiac arrest, they initiated CPR, and they utilized the on-site AED. They delivered three shocks before the arrival of local EMS. After the third shock she regained pulses and began to breathe on her own. I received a report today that she is up and walking around the hospital,” says Force. “This one life saved due to PPCC training makes everything we do well worth the effort.”
The PPCC Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program provides ongoing training for a variety of EMS agencies, local industry, and the general public.
