American Medical Response ambulance service has donated $2,000 to the PPCC Foundation for the purpose of enhancing the college’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program. According to Jeff Force, EMS program director, the funds will be used to help build a medical training Simulation (SIM) Lab to enhance the training of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Paramedic students.
“We are extremely pleased by their donation and their ongoing support,” says Force. “Without donors in the community, and the support of the PPCC Foundation, the EMS Program would not be able to have the impact on patient care that we are having in the region.”
Work on the SIM Lab will begin January 5 in room A-367 on Centennial Campus. The lab will recreate the environment of a mini-apartment, complete with bedroom, kitchen and living room, with interactive patient simulation models, so that EMS students can practice a variety of rescue techniques and emergency medical interventions in a real-life scenario.
