More than 500 students and their families attended College Goal Sunday during a two-hour window on February 8, to get free expert help filling out the FAFSA financial aid application. Financial aid professionals from PPCC and many other area colleges and universities were on hand to assist the record crowds, who overflowed the Centennial Campus Computer Lab and several floors of the Rotunda. Computer Lab staff had set aside more than 80 computers, so that students could file their applications on the spot.
By completing the FAFSA, participants applied for many different kinds of scholarships, loans, grants and student employment. CollegeInvest gave away $15,000 at College Goal Sunday across the state, including a $1,000 scholarship to a lucky person attending the PPCC event.
