On Saturday, February 14, the Women’s Resource Agency (WRA) and PPCC hosted a workshop on Postsecondary Education at the WRA office in the Citadel Mall. Gayle Krzemien, PPCC math faculty, is a member of the WRA Board of Directors and had been working with Valerie Montgomery, the WRA Adult Services Director, to coordinate this event. The goal of WRA is to assist women in achieving self-sufficiency. The following PPCC participants helped make this a successful event:
Gayle Krzemien, coordination of the event
Belenda Cornelius, enrollment and registration
Sandy Ho, former Student Government President, personal story
Chris Sandmore, Women’s Re-Entry Program
Approximately 10 clients attended. This was the second WRA-PPCC event; the first was July 19, 2008. We hope to continue offering these twice a year to raise the WRA clients’ awareness of the potential for coming to college as a means to realize their dreams.
If you know of women students who could benefit from assistance from the Women's Resource Agency, please give them the number of the WRA office, 471-3170, or their web address at www.wrainc.org.
