William Malone, Music faculty, has been chosen by his peers as the 2009 Faculty of the Year. He was honored at the February meeting of the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE) and the Colorado Community College System (CCCS).
Malone began teaching Music at PPCC in 2001, and became Department Chair in 2002. He has an extensive background in education, having taught all ages of students in places such as Tufts University and Wellesley College.
Malone is a nationally accomplished musician, with record label distribution. He is exceptionally skilled in both academic and performance studies. Malone consistently challenges his students to improve and excel, and he has succeeded in making the PPCC Music Department a vital, thriving program. His personal musical talents are well-known, and he regularly draws an audience from throughout the community to his faculty recitals.
After receiving his Bachelor of Music degree from Wichita State University, Malone earned a Master of Music degree from the prestigious New England Conservatory. He is very close to achieving his Doctorate of Music Arts. Malone is in the process of completing an Introduction to Music Theory textbook which will be adopted by PPCC.
Nancy Meiklejohn, CIS faculty, was also honored as Colorado Association for Career and Technical Education (CACTE) Teacher of the Year at the State Board meeting.
