The PPCC Japanese Language students will present the 12th annual performance of the Japanese play, Nothing is Impossible: A Samurai Love Story. This beautifully costumed, original play was written by Japanese faculty Rieko Y. McAdams. The event will be attended by Special Guest of Honor, Japanese Consul General Mr. Kubo Kazuaki.
The play is performed entirely in Japanese, with English subtitles shown, and will be narrated in English by Mr. Mike Madson, meteorologist from KOAA Channel 5 News and Weather. The production is the culminating result of the Japanese Language students’ efforts.
The play is set in Japan during the 1800's. The story illustrates the typical Samurai lifestyle, as well as love and conflict between two families. A Samurai warrior falls in love with a beautiful princess, and the Samurai struggles against the social hierarchy to prove himself and win the heart of the princess and the favor of her father.
The performance will be held on Saturday, May 9, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Theater at Centennial Campus. The play is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. For more information, call Rieko McAdams at 502-3067.
