Fabrizio Labate, manager of Web Services, has been chosen as the IT Support Person of the Year for 2009 by the e-Learning Consortium of Colorado (eLCC, formerly TeleCoop).

Labate is the system administrator for PPCC's Blackboard online learning system, that is accessible to all faculty and available for use with all PPCC classes. Labate always demonstrates patience, understanding and outstanding technical skills to solve student and faculty Blackboard problems. Additionally, he coordinates all the College’s Web Services, including the public website, student website, and intranet, integrated through the Hot Banana content manager software. Labate also serves on the Learning Technologies committee to represent PPCC at the System level.

According to his nominators, he is always ready to assist faculty, is consistently respectful, patient and thorough, and can explain things in layman's terms. His calm, cheerful demeanor generates a reassuring environment so that faculty can solve problems in the midst of pandemonium and deadlines. He has made a complex and tricky software system easy for faculty to use, and solves connectivity issues quickly, creating a much more pleasant online experience for faculty and students alike.
