Motivational and inspirational speaker and author Latoya Lucas will discuss and sign copies of her new book "The Immeasurable Spirit: Lessons of a Wounded Warrior about Faith and Perseverance," on Wednesday, September 23 at the Centennial Campus Atrium at 10 a.m. and at the Rampart Range Campus Library at 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
There have been a number of books written by and about service members who have served during the Iraq War. "The Immeasurable Spirit" offers a new perspective from one of its participants who sacrificed much on the battlefield. “There have been many stories written about female experiences in combat, but this is the first that focuses on how faith and family values persevere,” says Command Sergeant Major Terrance McWilliams, US Army Retired.
Lucas, a Purple Heart recipient, retired from the U.S. Army due to the combat wounds she sustained in Iraq. Despite having to overcome her own adversities, Lucas returned home with the goal of inspiring and helping others. The book is not only for those wounded during war, but for anyone who has struggled with life’s hardships. Tom Brokaw, journalist and author of the NY Times bestselling book, "The Greatest Generation," says “'The Immeasurable Spirit' is a remarkable story of patriotism, courage, near death, recovery and inspiration.”
"The Immeasurable Spirit" will be available for purchase at this event. For more information contact Soraiya Edressi at 502-3395 or Jennifer Meier at 502-2091. The author can be contacted at Latoya@latoyamotivates.com.
