The PPCC Pharmacy Technician program has earned national accreditation from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). PPCC is only the third college in the state with ASHP accreditation, and the only one in Southern Colorado. ASHP accreditation is the ultimate standard that Pharmacy Tech programs strive to meet, and is truly a mark of excellence.

The Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) is coming to PPCC in the Spring. It is a research-based, online survey that helps colleges assess efforts to improve student retention and student learning. This is your chance to tell us what works - and what doesn't. The PPCC Foundation’s Innovations Grant application is due on November 18, 2009. The PPCC Foundation campus grants program supports projects that are designed to encourage student success and foster academic innovation.

The Heebee Jeebees Gallery downtown at 318 E. Colorado Ave. is exhibiting the works of PPCC Printmaking students now through November 28. The works include linoleum cuts, drypoints and solar prints, with a focus on the printmaking process so the imagery varies widely. The gallery is open daily from noon to 6 p.m.

All Pikes Peak Reads is a community-wide effort to involve diverse groups of all ages to read and discuss the same books, to explore related relevant social issues, and to promote literacy. All Pikes Peak Reads 2009 book selections include Rocket Boys/October Sky, Have Space Suit Will Travel, The Space Tourist’s Handbook, and Community: The Structure of Belonging. PPCC events include The Space Foundation on October 14, and Space Flight in Fiction and Fact on October 15.
 

Discount tickets are available for PPCC students, staff and faculty to attend the Air Force Academy Football Game on Saturday, October 17. Kickoff is at 12:00 Noon. Have you ever wondered why some students get to wear the gold sashes during graduation? They are members of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor society for two-year institutions. The Alpha Gamma Alpha Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa will hold an induction ceremony for new members on Friday October 23 from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. in the Rampart Range Campus Atrium. The Fall Family Festival is free for PPCC students, staff and Child Development Center families, and it’s loads of fun! Children ages 1-10 are invited to come and enjoy carnival games, door prizes, face painting, and more on Saturday, October 21, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Centennial Campus Gym. The games will be followed by a free pizza lunch starting at 11:30 a.m.
