| Pikes Peak Community College has been named by G.I. Jobs magazine as a Military Friendly School for 2010. The honor ranks PPCC in the top 15% of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide who provide services to Military families. PPCC earned the designation through the college’s strong focus on serving military and veteran students and their families, including recruitment and retention of military and veteran students and helping them reach their goals, and for the college’s services and policies that help military and veteran families. | |

The Heebee Jeebees Gallery downtown at 318 E. Colorado Ave. is exhibiting the works of PPCC Printmaking students now through November 28. The works include linoleum cuts, drypoints and solar prints, with a focus on the printmaking process so the imagery varies widely. The gallery is open daily from noon to 6 p.m. |

Culinary Arts students won three of the top four awards during the recent One-Pot Cook-Off at the American Culinary Federation Pikes Peak Chapter’s Colorado Cowboy Culinary Cuisine at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. | AVOTEC Farrier Science students graduate | |
| The PPCC AVOTEC program recently graduated its first class of Farrier Science students. The six graduates were honored at the Air Force Academy equestrian stables, with friends and family in attendance. Air Force 4-Star General Duncan McNabb and his wife were on hand to thank and honor the students, several of whom were wounded warriors from the Army or Air Force. | |

Jerry Fritz, dean of the Economic & Workforce Development Division, is featured as a local Comcast Newsmaker in a 5 minute interview segment that will air periodically throughout the month. The program profiles local business and community leaders, local elected officials and non-profit organizations throughout the state of Colorado. Comcast provides this information as a public service to local viewers to better inform them on what is going on in their community. Fritz talked about the college’s Economic & Workforce Development training programs, and the services provided to local business and industry. The segments air on CNN Headline News at :55 past the hour on Comcast systems on a rotating basis. |

| Two summers ago, Tara Gray, ASID, Chair, Interior Design Department participated in an Interior Design competition in Denver. The project was filmed and aired on Rocky Mountain PBS earlier this month. | Gina Sandoval wins Incentive Award | |
| Gina Sandoval, Administrative Assistant II in Facilities Maintenance & Operations, was awarded a Classified Incentive Award. She was commended for her successful efforts to save funds for the College through her diligent research and smart negotiations with a vendor for classroom and office equipment, something that’s above and beyond her job requirements. The savings can now be directed towards other maintenance needs, which in turn helps keep costs down for our students. | |

| Willie Straws, retired Coordinator of Special Projects in Student Life, was profiled in the recent “2009 Women of Influence” awards magazine published by the Colorado Springs Business Journal.
