The college has just opened a second parking lot at the Downtown Studio Campus exclusively for faculty and staff. The parking lot, which provides employees with an additional ten parking spaces, is located on the west side of the Downtown Studio Campus on Sierra Madre. These ten parking spaces equate to a 40 percent increase in employee parking for the campus and will go far in providing faculty and staff assigned to that campus with up-close, convenient parking. The money used for this project came from a percentage of tuition revenue each year designated toward the improvement of facilities that are not eligible for state funding.
Referred to as the Capital Asset Maintenance (CAM) fund, it has been used for the replacement of the HVAC roof top units on the campus’ south building, replacement of original windows with energy efficient windows throughout the campus, and a carpet replacement project in the campus’ south building. The parking lot project came at the request of faculty and staff working at the Downtown Studio Campus who wanted additional parking spaces near the building to improve accessibility and employee safety. The college was able to complete the project $100,000 under our estimates.
The next CAM projects identified for the Downtown Studio Campus include sealing/replacing parts of the rubber roof, improving the performance of the HVAC units to provide consistent air temperatures throughout the campus, and a design/renovation project using green technologies in the bathrooms in the north building.
