Poverty Writing and Art Contest

February 5, 2014

Raise your voice on poverty!

Submit your writing or artwork on any of the following prompts:

Tell us about poverty from the perspective of your discipline. What effects does poverty have on those affiliated with your discipline? What impact could your discipline have on poverty? (What does an engineer think about poverty? A historian? An HVAC student?) This should be an academic essay or creative non-fiction (1000-3000 words).

Create a flash fiction piece: a vivid, brief snapshot on poverty. This could be your own experience or one imagined. (Fiction or non-fiction, 300-600 words.)

Submit artwork that captures the essence of the academic discipline or the flash fiction perspectives.

The winners in each category, in addition to receiving a prize, will be published in Parley 2014. Submit to Parley@ppcc.edu by February 21st.

Can we enter more than one category if we wanted to attempt to write both for the 'perspective of your discipline' and 'flash fiction'?
