What is High School Articulation?

Articulation is a way for high school students to earn college credit as they build career and technical education skills. A high school student can receive PPCC credit if they earn an A or B in their high school courses(s). Articulated credit and coursework will be recorded on an official Pikes Peak Community College transcript.

Who can participate?

High school students taking career and technical education courses in their high schools may receive credit if they earn an A or B grade in courses included in agreements between PPCC and their high school.

Why should a student participate?

Earn community college credits for college-level competencies achieved in high school.
Avoid duplicating coursework in college and graduate from college early.
Prepare for a career while still in high school.

Save money!

Students pay a $10 fee per PPCC course to get the credit recorded on a PPCC transcript (not to exceed $40 per semester). You’ll save on college tuition, books and lab fees. An average 3 credit PPCC course (resident) is $531.40 plus books.This can mean significant educational and financial advantages for your family!

What classes are eligible for articulation?

Numerous opportunities exist! The courses available for credit depend upon the formal articulation agreement between the school district and PPCC. Click here for your high school agreement or check with your high school counselor or teacher. Commonly articulated courses may include: computer applications, computer information systems, CAD, marketing, accounting, business, visual communications, ProStart, child development, automotive, welding, and other career and technical education courses.

Are new courses ever added?

At any time during the school year, high school faculty members may request consideration for inclusion into the High School Articulation program. To do so, faculty should send course information and syllabi to the High School Programs office. The information is forwarded to the appropriate PPCC department chair for consideration. If PPCC has a compatible course, the high school course and its corresponding PPCC course will be added to the articulation agreement and updated online. The requesting high school faculty member and counselor will receive notification of the decision.

What about courses taken prior to the current school year?

A student may still receive credit if courses were completed with A or B grade and verified by the high school teacher, registrar, or high school transcripts and courses were eligible for articulation at the time of course enrollment and completion.

How does a student get the college credit?

Complete an articulated course with a B or better.
Apply for admission (free!) to PPCC.
Fill out the Teacher Grade Verification Form and have your teacher sign it.
Return the packet and $10 for each course (not to exceed $40 per semester) to PPCC.
Sit back and wait for your college transcript to arrive!
