Individual and Group Career Counseling

This is a great starting point for your personal career exploration process. We'll talk about your work and educational background, and the specific information needs you have related to career decision-making. Then we'll work together with you to plan which tools will be most effective to help you decide on potential careers and reach your educational goals. We may recommend career assessments, information resources, workshops, or make referrals to other areas of the college - all based upon your individual needs. There is no charge for this service. Contact us for more information, or to make an appointment.

DISCOVER Career Guidance and Information System

DISCOVER is a computer-based system designed to assist you through your career-decision-making process. It includes assessments of your interests, abilities, and work values, which are then used to show you how your characteristics might match with different job categories. It also includes extensive information about 500+ specific occupations to increase your understanding of career areas as you work toward the choice that's right for you. There is no charge for this service, which is available on all campuses.  Contact us for more information!

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a well-respected tool to determine personality type.  We use it as a follow-up for DISCOVER users who would like to add the personality component to their career exploration process. If you and your career counselor determine that the test will be helpful to you, we'll provide you a referral to the PPCC Testing Center to take the assessment.  You'll then make an appointment for an individual interpretation of your test results. the MBTI testing and interpretation is $20 for currently-enrolled PPCC students ($50 for all others). Please contact us for more information.
