Policies

The Circulation Department at the PPCC Library offers full-service check-out and returns during regular library hours. Students, staff, and faculty of the College, as well as members of the community, are always welcome in the Libraries.

PPCC students need to present a PPCC college ID to check out material. This serves as your Library card. PPCC faculty and staff need an ID from Human Resources.

Students from other colleges and community users may check out two books at a time. Nonprint materials may be used only in the Library. A local public library card or college ID and a picture ID are required to check out books.

Interlibrary Loans

Need a book or an article that PPCC Libraries do not own? Then borrow it from another library. It's EASY!

Any Student, Faculty, or Staff member can request the use of other libraries' materials. Here is how it works:

  1. Make sure that PPCC Libraries do not own the item. Check the catalog to see if we have it.
  2. Use FirstSearch to look for your item in WorldCat, a world-wide catalog of library holdings. Search by author or title.

    • (If you are off-campus, you will have to log in to use the FirstSearch database. Follow the instructions you will see on your screen.)

  3. When you find the item you want in the results list, click on the title to get the item's full record.
  4. From the toolbar located at the top of the full record screen, click on the interlibrary loan button, which is labeled "ILL" and looks like this: WorldCat ILL Button
  5. Fill in the form. Required items are marked with an asterisk.
  6. Usually, you will not have to pay anything to get an interlibrary loan. If you do not want to pay any fees, note that in the comments field on the ILL request form.
  7. Click "Submit," and your request will go directly to our staff who will process your request and send it off to participating libraries.
  8. When notified, pick up your item at the PPCC campus library you specified on your request form.
  9. Most ILL items check out for 30 days, and you will be given your exact due date when you pick up your item.
  10. Turn in your item at either campus's library. Library staff will send it back to its home library.
