Good planets are hard to find!
"A land ethic ... reflects the existence of an ecological conscience, and this is turn reflects a conviction of individual responsibility for the health of the land. Health is the capacity of the land for self-renewal. Conservation is our effort to understand and preserve this capacity."
- Aldo Leopold
We humans rely on the earth’s natural resources for our daily needs. Nature’s processes are complex, and human activities make them even more so. As the human population of the earth increases, public concern over the conservation and sustainability of these resources has increased as well.
Although professionals working in natural resources may work in a wide range of settings, they share one objective: to help people appreciate and understand the relationship between humans and the natural world around them. If you are interested in a broad-based approach to natural resources and a career working in resource ecology, environmental policy, resource technology, natural resource education and interpretation, sustainability, wildlife biology, land use, and other related fields, this degree program may be for you.
