Program Description
The two-year Associate of Science (AS) degree (Pre-Allied Health) has options available in Medical Technology, Pre-Physical Therapy, and Pre-Nursing, designed for students applying to programs at four-year college, university or nursing school in Colorado. The AS Degree in Pre-Allied Health emphasizes physiology, anatomy, chemistry, and physics. Either one or two years may be used for transfer credit to other schools.
Because specific requirements may vary between different four year schools, you are encouraged to work closely with your academic advisor to make sure you take the right courses for transfer and to meet your specific career goals.
If your goal is to become a Medical Doctor, Dentist or Pharmacist, please consult the information in the Pre-Med Professions program. |
"60+60" Transfer Guarantee
Spend two years at PPCC, earning your Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree, and we’ll send you off with half the credits you’ll need for a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Guaranteed.
If you sign up for the 60+60 Bachelor’s Degree Transfer Program, we guarantee that the credits you’ve earned at PPCC will automatically be accepted by any four-year, public institution of higher learning in the state – providing, of course, you follow a few simple rules. For instance, you have to maintain at least a “C” in each of your 60+60 courses. And only approved 60+60 courses apply. But other than that, there’s hardly anything difficult about it.
If you think you might want to move on to a state college or university after completing your two years at PPCC, ask one of our advisors about the 60+60 program. Find out more at www.ppcc.edu/60plus60. |
Employment Opportunities
An AS in Pre-Allied Health is the first step towards a rewarding career in the Medical Field. You can become a Medical Technologist and do the testing that helps diagnose illness or become a physical or occupational therapist and help people recover after accident, illness or surgery or become a nurse and help people in clinical, hospital or long term care facilities. Additional careers you might consider are registered dietician, forensic crime lab analyst, food and drug inspector and food technologist. The possibilities are endless. |
Career Path Notes
We recommend that you consult regularly with your faculty advisor and research the specific requirements for any program you plan to transfer into. There are several Med Tech programs in Colorado and each has its own specific requirements. The more specific you are about your future plans, the more tailored a degree program you and your academic advisor can devise to help you achieve your unique goals. |
