psychology imageInvestigate the realm of human behavior

Psychology is the study of the human mind and behavior. The discipline of psychology embraces all aspects of the human experience – from the functions of the brain to the environments in which humans and other animals develop; from child development to aging. Psychology is a science based on a large body of social science and behavioral science research and which is expanding its boundaries to overlap with neuroscience and health science. Psychologists study two critical relationships: one between brain function and behavior, and one between the environment and behavior.
With an undergraduate degree in psychology, you could be ready for a broad range of jobs, including working with disturbed individuals and youth who need support. An undergraduate degree is also a stepping stone to higher education in a variety of other fields, including business, law, and the natural sciences. Many psychologists pursue academic careers at colleges and universities, where they are likely to be involved in teaching as well as conducting research. These types of jobs generally require advanced degrees in psychology.

The AA provides a solid foundation of study in the areas of arts and humanities, communication, or social sciences. Click here for track specific information.
Program Description
The ultimate goal of a two-year Associate of Arts (AA) degree with an emphasis in Psychology is for students to transfer to a four-year college or university. While at PPCC, the student will fulfill the requirements of the first two years of a bachelor’s degree. Students pursing degrees at the bachelor’s and graduate levels might specialize in any of the broad range of psychology’s subfields, such as health psychology, clinical psychology, industrial-organizational psychology, neuroscience, and more.
"60+60" Transfer Guarantee
Spend two years at PPCC, earning your Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree, and we’ll send you off with half the credits you’ll need for a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Guaranteed.
If you sign up for the 60+60 Bachelor’s Degree Transfer Program, we guarantee that the credits you’ve earned at PPCC will automatically be accepted by any four-year, public institution of higher learning in the state – providing, of course, you follow a few simple rules. For instance, you have to maintain at least a “C” in each of your 60+60 courses. And only approved 60+60 courses apply. But other than that, there’s hardly anything difficult about it.
If you think you might want to move on to a state college or university after completing your two years at PPCC, ask one of our advisors about the 60+60 program. Find out more at www.ppcc.edu/60plus60.
