Colorado Springs, Colo. – May 28, 2015 – The Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC) Marketing and Communication Department’s “What You’ll Find Will Surprise You” marketing campaign has been selected to move on to the National Advertising Association National Awards Competition in Las Vegas. The college’s work will compete against campaigns from companies such as Budweiser, Levi’s and Coca-Cola.
Advertising work being judged at the national competition must first win at the local and district level before it can be forwarded to the national competition. The What You’ll Find Will Surprise You” campaign micro-site (ppcc.edu/surprise), a component of the college’s overall advertising campaign, first won a gold ADDY at the Colorado Springs Advertising Federation competition. The campaign then beat out work from advertising agencies, Fortune 500 companies and numerous organizations from District 12 (representing Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Texas and New Mexico) to secure a place at the national competition. Two other pieces from the campaign, the “What You’ll Find Will Surprise You” individual videos and video campaign won Silver ADDYs at the District Level.
Prior to securing a spot in the national awards, PPCC’s marketing team won the Best of Show President’s Cup, for the second year in a row, at the local American Advertising Awards Gala held by the American Advertising Federation of Colorado Springs. The department also took home six Gold ADDYs and four silver ADDYs.
The “What You’ll Find Will Surprise You Campaign” is an advertising/marketing campaign that tells the real life stories of PPCC’s faculty and students through a number of mediums such as print advertising, radio ads, billboards, websites and social media.
The American Advertising Awards, sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, recognizes and celebrates the best creative ideas submitted by organizations and individuals in the local, regional and national advertising community. The organization works to improve the understanding, practice and quality of advertising. Its membership includes public relations/marketing agencies, advertisers, media, suppliers, educators and businesses.
