In Fall 2011, Pikes Peak Community College joined the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Assessment Academy. The Committee for Assessment of Student Services (CASS) was established as a result of participation in the academy to guide and support the assessment efforts of all departments within the Enrollment Services and Student Success divisions at PPCC.

History of Student Services Assessment at PPCC

Through ongoing training, mentoring, and one-on-one consultation services, CASS has assisted Student Services departments in i) articulating mission statements, broad program goals, and measurable learning outcomes, ii) developing effective assessment strategies, and iii) interpreting, reporting, and using assessment results to continuously enhance learning. Two assessment templates were developed to facilitate this process and document accomplishments and next steps.

PPCC graduated from the HLC Assessment Academy in June 2015, and Student Services departments continue to advance their understanding and practice of outcome-based assessment.

CASS Mission

The Committee for Assessment of Student Services was established to guide and support the assessment efforts of all departments within the Enrollment Services and Student Success divisions.

CASS Membership

CASS committee membership has evolved since its inception in Fall 2011. The committee was formed by individuals who shared an interest in developing the assessment of student services at PPCC. Since then, the committee has expanded to include staff with knowledge and experience assessing learning within student services. Current members included directors & coordinators from six support services areas as well as the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness.
