Tuition Assistance

Army and Space Force require service members to complete a Tuition Assistance briefing prior to accessing their tuition assistance.

The "ETP" list is no longer required to be submitted by schools.  Uploading class enrollment in ArmyIgnitED has replaced it.

The Process to request TA has changed since migrating from GoArmyEd to ArmyIgnitED. Please follow these steps.

1.  Get Started at Pikes Peak Community College:

  • Complete a PPCC Application.  Answer Yes to COF and Selective Service. You must identify as Active Duty Military so PPCC can upload your enrollment for TA registration.
  • First Time Students--attend a Mandatory Orientation for PPCC.
  • College Readiness--complete Accuplacer test (in person Fort Carson office walk-in Monday --Thursday 0830-1430, and 0930-1430 on Fridays. EdReady (web) or submit prior college transcripts showing college level ENG and/or Math for placement exception emailed to mvp@ppcc.edu subject line Army placement exemption. TA will not fund developmental/co-requisite classes without a test score to demonstrate need.
  • Register for classes through your student portal through Navigate on your Dashboard or Add/Drop classes on your "Student" tab at the top of the page.
  • Submit your Army Tuition Assistance Intent to Use Form EACH SEMESTER.  This notifies us to upload your enrollment into ArmyIgnitED so your courses are available to request TA.

2.  Get your Tuition Assistance Account Set up through ArmyIgnitED:

  • Attend "College 101" briefing at your Army Education and Training Center. Mandatory for first time TA users. Briefings are held on Mondays at 1000 and Wednesdays at 1400.  Check in at the front desk, Bldg. 1117 on the corner of Specker and Ellis. Call 719-526-2124. Set up ArmyIgnitED account using your military email (personal email will not work!).
  •  Submit an Education Path--your program of study/degree needs to match the one selected at PPCC. Army counselors must approve and then MVP staff will review your admissions process for completion and then approve. 
  • Log into ArmyIgnitED 3 days after registering for classes through PPCC and click on the "Ed Plan"  at the top of the page.  Then select the yellow "Request TA" button.  You should see your classes listed with check boxes on the left.  Click each box you want to request TA for and then scroll down until you see the "Submit" button.  Approving TA is currently a manual process so you may see that your TA requests are pending (waiting for Army Counselor manual approval).  You cannot request TA sooner than 60 days prior to the start of the term in which you are enrolled.
  • The Student Degree Plan feature in Army IgnitED is currently not functional.  PPCC is uploading your DegreeCheck under "Documents" which shows what classes are needed to complete your degree. 

Joint Service Transcripts--MVP Fort Carson staff will order your JSTs for evaluation for Prior Learning Assessment (college coursework equivalency) prior to your completion of 6 credit hours using Tuition Assistance.  Recommended credits on your JSTs must satisfy a degree requirement under your chosen major to be brought in for college credit.  To maximize your potential college credit for military training, select a degree program that aligns with your military training, or an Associate of General Studies which has 30 open elective credits that can be satisfied with JST credits.

Please click on the Getting Started Guide below for steps to become a PPCC student

  1. The Department of Defense requires all active duty using Tuition Assistance to receive approval from the Education Service Officer prior to enrolling in college classes.

  2. Attend a Tuition Assistance Briefing in your Education Center, Bldg.1141, Check in room 106, Briefings held on Tuesdays at 1400 and Fridays at 0900.

  3. Register for classes through your student portal at PPCC.

  4. Log into your AIPortal with a printed copy of your PPCC class schedule and the tuition costs (no fee information needed).

  5. Select your classes through the catalog and then enter tuition information.

  6. Submit for approval no sooner than 45 days and no later than seven (7) days prior to start of class term.

  7. Your TA request, once approved, will digitally route to PPCC Financial Services.
