Gain Experience

Real-world experience, is a key part of determining your interests, values, and skills outside of the classroom. Through experiential learning such as volunteering, internships, and jobs you can try the various work environments within your projected career field.

PPCC participates in the Federal Work-Study Program, which provides funding for part-time student jobs both on campus and off.  The Financial Aid Office will award work-study to students as part of their financial aid package. Students can view their award package via their myPPCC Student Portal.  The amount of the award is the maximum amount the student can earn within the academic year. Students not awarded work-study can stop by the Financial Aid Office to inquire about their eligibility.

To be awarded work-study students will need to answer YES to Are you interested in work-study on the FAFSA. Work-Study is awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, your interest does not guarantee you will receive an award.

Jobs are offered to work-study students via Purple Briefcase. Once hired students will need to complete paper work for; Payroll, Human Resources and Financial Aid. Awards are based on the students need, not to exceed $8,500 for Fall/Spring. Students are not guaranteed to earn the full amount of their award. Unearned funds do not roll over from semester to semester.

How will I get paid?

Students with a work-study job are placed on payroll with PPCC and are paid every two weeks through direct deposit to their bank account.  Work-Study funds are never paid directly to a student's bill.  You receive a paycheck for a working job and can use those funds to help offset your costs.

Create your Purple Briefcase Account to start applying for positions! New positions are being added daily!

Please ensure that you are looking for jobs within the correct award offer period.

Spring 2020 work-study jobs are closed, only transfer jobs are available to current work-study students.
