The (PPCC) Counseling Center’s mission is to support student success by providing mental health counseling services as well as information related to emotional wellness.
The Counseling Center will accomplish this mission by providing brief interventions for PPCC students who have problems or concerns that might interfere with academic progress: by providing consultation and education to faculty, staff and students regarding student emotional concerns and by providing referrals when appropriate to community services for longer interventions or basic needs and supportive services.
Department Statement of Diversity
The Counseling Center is sensitive and places a high value on the dignity and worth of individuals regardless of their gender expression and identity, ethnicity, race, sexual/affectional orientation, age, physical and mental abilities, religious beliefs, and socioeconomic class. Therefore, it is our belief that all persons should be accepted for who they are, and we recognize and encourage each individual’s potential for personal growth and change.
Staff members seek to provide an open, supportive atmosphere in which individuals feel free to express feelings and communicate problems. Concern and respect for each person’s needs is paramount.
