Leave Benefit Plans
Permanent employees of Pikes Peak Community College are offered leave benefits. Leave benefit options are dependent upon employee classification.
Permanent employees may be eligible for annual leave. Annual leave accrual amounts are pro-rated for part-time employees. Annual leave is accrued at the end of each month and is available for use in the following month. Annual leave may be used for vacation or personal time off. Annual leave accrual rates are dependent upon employee classification.
Administrative, Professional and Technical Employees
Administrative, Professional and Technical employees may be eligible for annual leave. Annual leave accrues at the rate of 15 hours per month; pro-rated to the percent of employment. The maximum accrual is 360 hours.
Regular faculty may be eligible for personal leave. Regular faculty may be granted up to 16 hours per academic year for personal leave.
Classified employees may be eligible for annual leave. Annual leave accrual is based upon the total number of months of state government service, excluding temporary assignments. Annual leave accrual is 8 hours per month for month one through five years of state government service.
Permanent employees may be eligible for sick leave. Accrual amounts are pro-rated for part-time employees. Leave time is accrued at the end of each month and is available to use in the following month. Sick leave may be used for doctor, dental, or eye appointments, etc. There is currently not a maximum amount accrual for sick leave. Sick leave options are dependent upon employee classification.
Permanent employees may be eligible for bereavement leave. Supervisors and appointing authority may grant employees up to five working days for bereavement leave with pay. Bereavement leave may be used to attend the funeral of an immediate member of the employee's family or his/her spouse's family.
Pikes Peak Community College supports the State Board of Community Colleges and Occupational Education's interest in encouraging and supporting the direct involvement of its employees in the educational experience of children. Pikes Peak Community College employees are encouraged to participate in the Governor's K-12 program. Up to forty-eight hours per fiscal year, not to exceed six hours in any one-month period, may be granted to attend K-12 activities, such as parent-teacher conference and meetings related to special education services, response to interventions, dropout prevention, attendance, truancy, and disciplinary issues.
Pikes Peak Community College follows an alternate holiday schedule. Permanent employees are granted paid holiday leave for each designated holiday that falls within their regular work schedule. Holiday leave is pro-rated for part-time employees.
