Current Construction Projects

Several improvement projects are underway and the results promise to be amazing. In the meantime, construction may create short-term inconveniences like noise, route obstruction, and room reassignment.

Keep ahead of these impacts by looking for the “cone.” Campus signage and PPCC.EDU both have a cone that lead to more information. Specifically, visit this page for updates on what’s happening.

The Centennial Campus Southern Hillside is getting a facelift! Construction started today on the Hillside Remediation. The focus of this project is to improve drainage and appearance of the land. To give crews room to work, 5 parking spaces have been blocked off in the D-Parking Lot. This minor inconvenience will prove to be worth it once this project is completed on May 7th. We are all very excited to see the finished result.

Demolition and abatement will occur between 2/22/19 and 3/18/19. Please use caution when accessing the rear parking lot. The PPCC Studio West project converts an existing warehouse and office space at 22 N. Sierra Madre St. into an arts educational space. The 9,621 square foot, two-story building will house the school’s art gallery, dance and theatre programs, and associated administrative and support spaces. The existing building is constructed with load bearing cmu and wood roof/floor joists and will receive numerous improvements including; an upgraded thermal envelope with furred insulated walls and a new roof, new full building MEP, utilities, and fire sprinklers, overall accessibility upgrades including an elevator, minor structural modifications to accommodate the new layout, and a new canopy and deck feature at the main entrance. Site improvements include accessibility upgrades with ADA parking, ramp, and stairs, and site work along the north wall to address drainage issues from the adjacent park property.

Please note that over spring break the carpet on the first floor of the Rampart Range Campus Atrium is going to be replaced. This includes the carpet immediately south of the water feature and the carpet inside the area enclosed by the half height wall near the café. See attached diagram. During this time, please use caution when walking through this area, noting the two carpeted seating areas will not be available for general seating or event use. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but trust the end result will prove to be worth it.

Great progress at Cypress this week. Crews continue to work hard. The elevator pit has been filled in and safety rail has been installed. Electrical is reaching its final rough in stages with inspections scheduled for next week. The pipes for the headwall units will also be installed in the next week or so.

Looking south into one of the nursing wards. You can see the beginnings of blocking for the headwall units. The back wall is sheetrocked, but we need to leave it half open until we pass inspections. Crews are beginning to run conduit, seen stacked to the right in the photo.
