Club Goals:

  • to foster an environment of learning for cybersecurity concepts and best practices
  • to create a community of like-minded individuals with high ethical standards
  • to represent PPCC in related cybersecurity events

Areas of Emphasis:

#1 Curriculum

Theory is empty without practice. In P2C4, we want everyone to gain hands-on experience that is needed to reinforce our education. We strive for the practical application of social, ethical, and technical concepts. Club meetings regularly include presentations on the same tools, techniques, and procedures used by current Cybersecurity experts!

#2 Community

As part of P2C4, you will have the opportunity to connect with individuals from all walks of life! Connect with other students, educators, security professionals, military personnel, and government officials as you explore the diversity of cybersecurity. Join us as we network with organizations like the National Cybersecurity Center (NCC), the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), and others!

#3 Competition

Our focus on these two areas encourages us to participate in cybersecurity competitions. Competitions allow P2C4 members to enhance their social and technical skills while representing Pikes Peak Community College at state, regional, and national levels. P2C4 has gone toe-to-toe with universities around the country and continues to prosper on a nationwide platform!

We had 18 registered participants with placements in the Bronze, Silver, and Gold brackets. The Team Game is Nov 15-17. The Goal of the NCL Games is to: 1# practice skills learned from class, #2 practice new skills sets, #3 become aware of content covered on the CompTIA Security+ Certificate Exam, #4 Identify knowledge gaps & plan to improve, #5 Grow bonds with P2C4 Team Mates, #6 Work hard and rank well

19-20 Oct 2019 - Cyber Maryland Challenge / online - The PPCC Cybersecurity Club P2C4  competed in ROUND 2 of the Cyber Maryland Challenge and has been invited to participate in the next round. SIX members from our P2C4 competition team will travel to Round 3 of the Cyber Maryland Challenge during the first week of December. Team members include Jeremy, Josiah, Josh, Christopher, Thomas, and Jose. Eleven higher education teams qualified for Round 3 by having enough points earned. This competition started with 34 institutions, and I would guess P2C4 is at least a top 5 team in this competition. I do remember that when Round 2 closed, most of P2C4 had scored in the top 20 individual positions. Competition statistics have been hard to come by.

28-29 Sept 2019 - Cyber Maryland Challenge / online - The PPCC Cybersecurity Club competed in ROUND 1 of the Cyber Maryland Challenge and have been invited to participate in the next round.

Sept 2019 - CTF / local - The PPCC Cybersecurity Club competed in the SecureSet Capture The Flag (CTF) competition. Placing is unknown.

June 2019 - Wicked6 / online - P2C4 Competition Team competed in the Wicked6 Esport competition facilitated by the Women's Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC). The club competed against many prestigious 4-year colleges. They placed 12th (just under Stanford) out of 21 total teams.

March 2019 - NCL / online - Members from the PPCC Cybersecurity Club competed in the NCL Spring Season game. The club competition team placed 36th out of 627 teams. Three members (Matt ~ 54th, Jeremy ~ 64th, and Drayce ~ 84th) placed in the top 100. Many members placed in the top 15%.

Spring 2019 - RM CCDC / regionals - Our PPCC Cyber Club made it passed the Qualifiers to the Regionals of Rocky Mountain Cyber Collegiate Defense Competition.  They did well to make it this far for their first time competing in this type of competition.  They vowed to return the next year and place in the top three.
